Indian sex workers fight for their rights



– A quarter of India’s 2.8 million sex workers are younger than 18 years, some are under 9 years old
-Every day about 200 girls and women in India enter the sex trade, 80 percent of them against their will
-About 7,000 sex workers come to India from Nepal every year, some sold by their parents, others kidnapped or deceived with promises of marriage or a lucrative job
-Kolkatta’s sex worker collective Durbar, with 65,000 members is the largest trade union of its kind in Asia
